Parallel°
A free weather app that shows every temperature both in Celsius and in Fahrenheit.
Why
You move somewhere new and the forecast arrives in a unit you have no feel for. We believe that seeing both temperatures at the same time in one app helps you develop an intuitive feel for the new unit, and makes it easier to switch to it entirely.
Then you turn the old one down
The app will first show you both units at the same size. Then, as you get used to the new unit, you can shrink the old one down to a smaller line beneath it. Finally, when you are ready, you can remove it entirely to only use the new unit.
The end state is an ordinary single-unit weather app. That is the point.
What it does
- Current conditions, with wind, humidity and dew point.
- A 48-hour chart carrying both the real temperature and what it feels like, each labelled in both units.
- Seven days, with each day's range.
- Up to ten saved locations, a swipe apart.
- Hours in the forecast's own time zone. A Paris forecast reads in Paris hours, wherever you are.
Data sources
Parallel° uses the National Weather Service inside the United States, Open-Meteo everywhere else. Both are public services: Please consider supporting them.
Privacy
This app is free and has no login or analytics, your preferences are stored locally on your phone.
Your saved locations and settings stay on your phone. To fetch a forecast, the app sends the coordinates of the place you are looking at to the weather service, directly. Location permission is requested only if you switch on Current location.
You can read The full policy, which says the same thing at greater length.
